Practice puzzles

One short, one medium and one long read, with no time limit. These don’t count towards today and have their own statistics.

Tester tools

For trying the game before launch. Jumping ahead acts as if a day has passed, so your streak keeps counting.

About WikiClicks

Two pages. Three minutes. As few clicks as you can.

How to play

  1. 1

    Start on one page

You land on today’s start page with a target to reach.

  2. 2

    Tap links in the article

Every page you open is a click, going back included.

  3. 3

    Reach the target

Get there in as few clicks as you can, before the clock runs out.

The small print

  • You have 3 minutes after a 3-second countdown. The clock pauses while a page loads.
  • Weekdays start on shorter pages. Weekends start on long reads.
  • Sections start folded up. Tap a heading to open it; the number shows how many links are inside.
  • Stuck? You get one search of the links on a page per game, for +1 click.
  • No Ctrl+F, no address bar, no scouting in another tab.

Scoring

It’s scored like golf. Par is one more than the shortest route, so finding the shortest route is a birdie.

  • −1

    Birdie

    The shortest route.

  • E

    Par

    One click spare.

  • +1

    Bogey

    One over par.

  • +5

    The cap

The most a day can cost, and what running out of time counts as.

A new weekly round starts every Monday. Play all seven days to post a round score; a give-up or a missed day makes the round incomplete.

Tips for a better score

  • Head for the big pages

Countries, cities and big subjects link to almost everything.

  • Think backwards

What page would mention the target? Aim for that.

  • Read the top first

The opening paragraph links the biggest pages.

  • Save your search

One click for a search is cheaper than a wrong turn and a trip back.

Why play

  • 3 minutes

    Fits in a coffee break.

  • Learn something

A fact about each page on the route.

  • Beat your mates

The same puzzle for everyone. Share and compare weekly rounds.
